Hobbies
I have a wide variety of hobbies. I am an avid hunter and consider it a way of life. I only hunt for deer with a bow and arrow. Hunting with a bow and arrow is more challenging than with a gun. I enjoy the challenge. I have taught my son to hunt and this is something we do together. I have taught him that hunting is both a right and a responsibility.
Basketball is my favorite sport, with golf second. I played organized sports for 16 straight years. Recently, I retired from organized basketball due to injuries and yes, I'm getting older. I still play a little basketball on the playground with my son. I shoot hoops with my friends a few times a year.
I have become a golf fanatic. I am a member at Petoskey Bay View Country Club. I play at least twice a week, but I am a fair weather golfer and I wait until it warms up.
I love to swim and achieved a mile swim award while in Boy Scouts at the age of 11. I still swim off the break wall here in Petoskey and enjoy swimming at Sturgeon Bay.
I love playing games with friends. I play euchre when I get a chance. I really enjoy the game of chess. I have played in numerous chess tournaments. I even have a professional rating from the US Chess Federation.
Finally, parenting my 13-year old son is the highlight of my life. I taught him hunting, fishing, sports, sportsmanship and more. Johnathan is my only child. He is an eighth grader and will turn 14 on May 27, 2009. He plays percussion in band and is forming a rock band with 2 of his friends. His hobbies are snowboarding, bike riding, swimming, golf, Frisbee, basketball, chess, a little baseball, and yes, video games.
